The children celebrated 5 different religions from around the world; Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism and Islam. Each house team experienced the different faiths through an hour long workshop during the day. The workshops included art activities, drama, music and cookery.

To start the new year the whole school held a Healthy Hearts and Healthy Minds Week. We focused on yoga, mindfulness, understanding our emotions and how to look after our bodies and mental health. Everyone enjoyed the week and we now understand our 'meerkat, elephant and monkey' parts of the brain. See if you can spot them lurking in each classroom!

A few of the Year 6 children organise Christmas Jumper Day to raise money for the Text Santa children's charity. They organised the day from start to finish including designing posters, writing a piece for the newsletter and doing a brief talk in assembly too.

Wow! Wow! Wow! What absolutely brilliant performances of The King of Pride Rock and Lights, Camel, Action! We are all so proud of your stunning performances. You performed with such enthusiasm and enjoyment throughout all of the performances. A huge well done to everyone!

Twenty three children in Key stage 2 entered the INTU Christmas Singing competition. They did a fantastic job competing against 18 other schools from around Derbyshire. Their singing was fabulous, full of enthusiasm. The children all did the school proud, demonstrating wonderful behaviour, polite manners and big smiles on their faces throughout the experience!

We held our Harvest Festival at St Laurence Church. Children and parents donated tins and other non-perishable goods to the Salvation Army. Children entertained parents and grandparents with songs, poems and prayers about Harvest time. It was a packed Church!

We celebrated No Pens Day Wednesday. Teachers planned a day full of learning without allowing children ( or teachers) to use pens and pencils. Lots of creative methods to encourage communication and different ways of working. Could you manage a day without using a pen?

The school council helped to organise our annual Macmillan Coffee morning. We had a great turn out from parents and grandparents raising over £200 for Macmillan.
