I am very proud to be the chair of governors at Walton on Trent school and enjoy working with the staff and pupils to make this a wonderful learning environment for the pupils to be in.

I am also a senior sister working for the NHS and have been a nurse now for 31 years. I have two children, one of whom is also a governor at Walton, is a qualified teacher and works for the national trust and the other is a student at University of Middlesex studying Psychology as well as working in administration for the NHS. Both of my children went to a primary school within the trust followed by attending John Taylor High School so I have been familiar with schools in the trust both as a governor and as a parent.

I'm delighted to be able to serve Walton School as a Foundation Governor, particularly supporting the school in the area of RE and it's Christian Ethos.  I love the school and want to support it in any way I can.  I am one of three  people who lead The Community Church, a Christian church that meets in Stapenhill and I'm also Vice Chair of The Church in Burton, which connects church leaders from all denominations together.  My background is in journalism but by far my most important role now is that of a mum - to my teenage step daughter and my son who is at Walton and he loves it!

Mrs Helen Mansfield

Term of office 20.01.2020 - 19.01.2024

As a new governor, I am delighted to be part of the team in such a welcoming, nurturing and supportive school. As a trained History teacher, my career has focused on education and learning in schools, museums, art galleries, archives, heritage organisations and music venues. I have been a Designated Safeguarding Officer, a successful fundraiser, and can offer strong experience in access and inclusion. My current role is Relationship Manager for Children, Young People and Learning with Arts Council England across the Midlands. I support, advise, enable and empower people and organisations to create meaningful learning opportunities and to access funding. I strongly believe that creative opportunities unlock the potential of so many children both in school and beyond.

Mrs Susanna de Jongh

Term of office 24.11.2017 - 23.11.2021

I am a mum of two children at Walton School and am pleased to get involved behind the scenes, to help ensure that all our children continue to have a happy setting in which to learn and grow.
I have a good deal of experience in the voluntary sector, having Chaired and been on the Board of Trustees of a successful voluntary-run pre-school for around three years, overseeing the management of the setting whilst also being  a parent representative.
Now that my children are school age, I'm excited to be able to transfer the experience I've gained volunteering as a Governor.

Mrs Claire Bellman

Term of office 14.01.2021 - 13.01.2025

Hello, my name is Claire Bellman,  I am a secondary teacher of more than 16 years and having been a Head of English & Drama for 11 years and a Head of Sixth Form for two, I am now Assistant Head Pastoral and Designated Safeguarding Lead at a local independent school. I am also a subject expert for OfQual and an experienced examiner. In my spare time, I can mostly be found running the river path to Branston or curled up with a good book.  I feel passionately that every individual should be able to achieve their potential, and that schools should be able, and enabled, to foster curiosity and a love of learning in the next generation.  I am well versed in what universities and employers are looking for in prospective students and am well aware that these skills cannot be embedded early enough in the curriculum.  One of my main passions is encouraging interest in the super-curricular: learning that goes above and beyond the curriculum.  I look forward to learning from the whole team at Walton: the governing body, the staff and the students alike, and to sharing my knowledge and experience of school life in return.  My family moved to the village in 2018 and my daughter started in Hedgehogs this September.  I am so impressed by everything Mrs Rowe and her team are doing, especially in the current circumstances, and can’t wait to see it go from strength to strength in the coming years. The future’s bright at Walton Primary!

Mrs Sarah Rowe

 Headteacher  01.09.2015

I was appointed in September 2015 as Headteacher of our school. I am extremely proud to be the Head of such a caring and friendly school with very enthusiastic children and staff! Prior to my role at Walton, I have taught across the Primary age range in three different schools. I was awarded the status of being an Advanced Skills teacher supporting other teachers across the country, worked for the School Improvement PE team for Staffordshire County Council and spent 2 years as Deputy Head before being appointed as the Headteacher for 3 years in Nottingham. I love my role at Walton and it continually excites me to be at the forefront of its development.
