Mrs Amy Holliday - Co-Vice Chair of Governors (Co-opted)

Hi Everyone, I’m Amy and my Daughter is currently in Year 2. Walton is a wonderful, friendly and supportive school and it is such a great opportunity to be a Parent Governor. In the real world I am a Financial Planner and have experience in various other sectors and wanted to try and give something back and use my skills in the role of Governor and support the school in any way I can to maximise its huge potential. For me the Forest School provision is a huge benefit for the children and for our Daughter is the highlight of her week. The school and all the staff work relentlessly to make the school the best it can be and it is a privilege to work alongside them.

Mrs Caroline Williams (Staff Governor)

Hello everyone. I am Mrs Caroline Williams and I am proud to be the Early Years Lead and class teacher at Walton on Trent C of E Primary and Nursery School since April 2022.
I am a dedicated Early Years teacher with over 20 years experience. Throughout my career, I have worked across all year groups but Early Years, Key Stage One and SEND have always been my passion. I love to inspire children through reading, learning through play and learning through exploring the great outdoors. In my spare time, I enjoy going to the theatre, playing tennis and spending time with my family and friends. I have 3 teenage children who keep me busy outside of school hours. I am delighted to be the new staff governor, representing the staff body.
Mrs Joanna Foster (Co-opted Governor)

Hello, my name is Joanna Foster and I taught at Walton for 8 years and have been the Deputy Headteacher for the last 4 years up until July 2023. It's a huge privilege and I feel extremely lucky to work with the hardworking staff team and governors at Walton. The friendly, welcoming and inclusive atmosphere of the school is second to none. My main passions are sports, maths, assessment and teaching and learning. I currently play for Belper Ladies Hockey Team in the national league and have previously represented England at junior levels up to Under 21s.
Mr Wayne Holmes (Parent Governor)
Term of office 05.05.2022 - 04.05.2026
With a daughter that started at Walton on Trent primary school in 2021 we’ve already seen the benefits that attending such kind, warm, caring and highly regarded school brings. I’m delighted to have joined the governing body to provide support in the schools continuing success. I have a strong background in finance, along with HR & IT project experience and want to use this experience to help the school progress for the benefit of all pupils.
Mrs Kate Rich (Parent Governor)
Term of office 21.09.2023 - 20.09.2027
I have a son who started at Walton in 2022. I have seen many benefits of him attending such a friendly and caring school. I am pleased to have joined the governing body to ensure that all the children continue to have such a friendly setting in which they can learn and grow. I wish to support the school to achieve its full potential. I have a legal background and will use my knowledge to benefit the pupils and support the school.
Miss Lisa Jones (Co-opted Governor)
Term of office 21.09.2023 - 20.09.2027
Hi, we moved to the area from Birmingham a couple of years ago and our son Jenson absolutely loves going to Walton, especially the forest school! It’s great to be able to offer support to such a lovely school. My educational background is Science - I studied at Aston University and have since worked in recruitment, sales and marketing and currently work for a med tech company. I am particularly passionate about children having access to the outdoors and nature to help with teaching and wellbeing, and strongly support equality and diversity.
Mrs Sarah Rose (Parent Governor)
Term of office 23.11.2023 - 22.11.2027
I'm Sarah and I have two children attending Walton who both love their school and the warm, welcoming environment it provides. Over the years I have seen how hard the Walton family works to make everyone feel special and welcome, because of this I want to help and support the staff in any way I can, which is one of the reasons I applied to be a Governor. I have a degree in Earth Science and Volcanology which is still my passion and I'm very interested in how science can be brought to life in the classroom via creative experiments. After the covid lockdowns I helped revive the school PTA to raise some money for our school through organising discos and fundays. My previous role in pharmaceutical sales mixed with my current role as a Business Analyst will help in any decision making, problem solving and building relationships.
Reverend Derek Arnold (Foundation Governor - Ex Officio)
Start date 27.02.2024
Hello, my name is Derek Arnold and I have recently joined the Governing body and would like to give you an idea about who I am. After attending Art College, I began my working life as a Technical Illustrator. We then moved to Germany for 10 years where I worked in the latter part of my time as a Marketing Director. I then returned to Banbury, where I started my own company and remained there until I got the calling to be a priest in the Church of England. I have 4 children, the youngest is 9 and my wife Amanda and I were Foster Carers for 10 years. Since joining the church, I have served on 6 School Governing Bodies and it has always been a pleasure and privilege to serve. If any of my past experiences prove useful to the school, I am happy to help. I believe that working in schools is a really important part of the church’s mission in the community. In my spare time I like to get a bit of exercise, spend time relaxing and enjoy a good cup of coffee.
