What is the PE and Sports Premium Funding?

The government announced in May 2026 that a new PE and School Sport Partnerships Network will replace the current sports premium funding and is expected to be fully operational from spring 2027. The wider package involves more than £1 billion over three years, with £580 million backing the new Partnerships Network. The intention is to move towards a national network providing more targeted support to schools.

The Government has an Education Hub Blog which explains how the funding is intended to be used by schools.
