Guardians of

Walton on Trent Primary and Nursery School

This academic year, we are starting a new initiative to encourage our Year 6 pupils to the lead in taking care of different areas of learning, our school environment and encouraging them to learn skills to prepare them for the wider world. 

 

All children in Year 6 have chosen an area to represent. They will then be the champion for their area and be encouraged to develop the role, practising skills including leadership, integrity and moral responsibility.

 

 

Our Guardians values will incorporate the Nolan Principles of: 

  • Selflessness – consider the needs and wishes of others  
  • Integrity – having strong moral principles  
  • Objectivity – being fair and showing no discrimination 
  • Accountability – taking responsibility  
  • Openness – being approachable and working with others  
  • Honesty – being truthful

The job of a Reading guardian is to ensure that Walton students put books away, read, keep the library tidy and to find the right books! If people keep the library clear, we will have more time to focus on buying more books for Walton to care for!

Playground Guardians

The job of the Playground guardian is to monitor the playground to see if everyone plays safely, for example, wearing helmets when you're on the bikes and make sure that everyone is sharing. We make sure that everyone is included in games. We want to make the playground enjoyable so that everyone loves playtime!

 

Sports Guardians

STEM Guardians

As STEM guardians, our job is to make sure all the teachers have the correct equipment for their Science and Computing lessons. We also make sure that all of the iPads are plugged in and ready for the next person to use.
