Young Voices 2020
Our music pack has finally arrived and I'm as excited as ever to get started on these new songs.
A wonderful mixture of music genres - western, classical, rock, indie and the ever-popular Pop Medley.
Rehearsals will start when we get back in September - look out for more information!
Artists confirmed are The Shires, Ruti (from The Voice UK), and an exciting revisit from Tony Hadley (Spandau Ballet).
Our show date is Friday 17th January 2020 - no school the next day!
Our performance date is Monday 21st January 2019. Rehearsals started on Thursday 20th September after school until 4.15pm.
The children are so excited about this year's songs and are really enjoying rehearsing!
Young Voices 2019 - September update
Following a very popular lunchtime meeting last term, it seems we have many budding performers wanted to join us this time! It's fantastic that so many of your children are so keen to join in what promises to be a fantastic night.
There will be a letter coming out to those interested, during the first couple of weeks back - this will detail the performance time/date, costs of tickets and merchandise etc. There are likely to be more children than we have places available, so depending on numbers, we may have to hold auditions.
I will keep you posted, via the website, of dates and times for rehearsals for the autumn term. These are a weekly commitment, but really play a big part in the performance, and getting to know the songs and choreography. I will try my best to change the day each half term as I am aware that children may have commitments outside of school too.
July 3rd 2018
The Young Voices song pack has arrived TODAY! I'm very excited already as it's a fantastic selection of songs....yet again. Music from Coldplay, Blondie, Kylie,The Bangles, The Cure, Moana, and a finale from The Greatest Showman.
A mixture of contemporary and classic music, with fabulous special guests - Tony Hadley (Spandau Ballet) and Beau Dermott (Britain's Got Talent); it'll make for an amazing night. This will be Walton's 3rd year of participating, so we're experts at it now.
I'll do an information session/sing -a-long next week for all KS2 that are interested in taking part. We have do have limited places, so we will do auditions only if required.
It's a lot of hard work for the children and a very long day, but very worthwhile experience. I hope that your children will want to join us for Young Voices 2019.
I'll confirm the performance night once we know our date.
January 2nd 2018
Young Voices has come around very quickly! Our performance night is Wednesday 10th January. Details of arrangements for the day, plus your ticket allocations will be sent out Wednesday/Thursday of this week.
I've arranged the final few rehearsals following our Christmas break. They are:
Thursday 4th January
Friday 5th January
Tuesday 9th January from 3.15-4.15pm
This will give us time to do a full run through (over the three sessions), and to remind ourselves of the choreography. Please don't worry if your child can't make all of the sessions; I know many of you have other after school activities planned in advance. If you can, try and encourage your child to practice at home if they cannot make the rehearsals.
I know we're looking forward to a fantastic evening on the 10th. Thank you for your continued support. See you on the 10th!
The Young Voices Choir are doing an amazing job of singing their hearts out each week. They have grasped the songs very quickly, and are so enthusiastic about performing them. We have started the choreography this week too, which they've all really enjoyed. Mrs Claxton and I are really pleased with how well the rehearsals are going.
Next half term, the rehearsal night will change to a Wednesday, 3.15 - 4.15pm (except for 8th November, when there will be no rehearsal due to Parent's Evening). As before, please don't worry if your child misses a rehearsal, or cannot make a Wednesday. There will be further opportunities in school for additional practice nearer the performance date.

Young Voices 2018
I can't believe how quickly this has come around again! We are all so excited for the forthcoming performance. Rehearsals will start this week, (w/c 11th September) on Thursdays after school, and a Friday lunchtime. Please don't worry if your child can't make Thursdays though; I'll arrange a different day for next half term.
Song sheets and CD's are on their way to you very soon - my trusty IT technician, Oliver (Year 6) is helping me with this!
Our performance date is January 10th 2018, and you should have received order forms in the last few days.
The songs this year are just as amazing as last years' - without wanting to give too much away, we have cartoon medleys, an 80's rock classic, Stevie Wonder and the awesome Ed Sheeran! Plus there will be guest artists on the night, which are a surprise to us, as well as the audience.
Thank you and your children for your commitment to this performance. They will love doing it, and I'm sure you'll love every minute of watching!
