Here at Walton, our children have a very big and important voice across our school. We are very proud of our children in our Walton family and so many visitors comment on their kindness, enthusiasm, energy and confidence. Well done children!
We have also have a number of ambassadors in the school ranging form sports crew to Blue Iris Ambassadors to our School Council.
The School Council is over-seen by Mrs Rowe and managed by Mr Carlin. We are very fortunate to have dedicated children who form our school council. They work extremely hard as a whole team and in sub-teams to improve our school. At the beginning of each term, each class votes in their class representative for the year.
As part of our British Values curriculum we have made links between the roles within the council and parliament. As a school, we believe that enabling children to have first hand experiences helps to broaden their depth of knowledge of the real world.
The elected candidates are as follows:
The school council meets half termly to discuss whole school ideas and improvements. The main focus of our meetings are safeguarding and mental health and wellbeing. They also help out at events in school, for example the Macmillan Coffee morning and interviewing for new staff. They always impress our governors when interviewing for new staff - and candidates often say comment on how confident and independent the children are when interrogating them!
