Here at Walton, our school council is managed by Mrs Rowe. We are very fortunate to have dedicated children who form our school council. They work extremely hard as a whole team and in sub-teams to improve our school. At the beginning of each term, each class votes in their class representative.
As part of our British Values curriculum we have made links between the roles within the council and parliament. As a school, we believe that enabling children to have first hand experiences helps to broaden their depth of knowledge of the real world.
The elected candidates are as follows:
Hedgehogs - Mollie
Squirrels - Jude
Owls - Reggie and Cameron
Foxes - Hannah
Badgers - Nathaniel and Carys
The school council meets fortnightly with Mrs Rowe to discuss whole school ideas and improvements They also help out at events in school, for example the Macmillan Coffee morning. Our first meeting discussed safeguarding in school and we are going to design a leaflet for the children on how to keep themselves safe.
