Owls- Y3 & Y4

On Friday in Owls we had an exciting morning and they have been superstars. We learnt our colours in Italian, Ms Thompson (Casey) did some teaching and then we consolidated our learning outside. We had Zennen, Sam and Casey perform with their instruments and then we all deciphered the musical notation and learned the melody to Mamma Mia. There are pictures and videos below!

This term our class topic is 'Potions'. I have provided an information sheet for parents and carers below, so that you can familiarise yourself with what the children will be covering and getting up to this term. We are going to be having a lot of fun!

Below I have also provided the homework for the children this term. The highlighted task is compulsory, and please choose three other tasks to complete at home. Remember to have fun and enjoy experimenting with potions around the house! Please can the homework be in school by Thursday 11th April.

Autumn 2

Welcome back to The Owls!

Our topics include:

Science- ‘Sound’: How ears hear and how different sounds are made.

History- ‘Anglo-Saxons and Scots’: Who the Anglo-Saxons and Scots were and when and why they invaded Britain.

Class novel- ‘The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe’ by C.S. Lewis.

Homework- The Owls have come up with some fantastic suggestions for homework based on ‘Sound’:

  • Music- research a famous composer/ piece of music e.g. Peter and the Wolf by Sergei Prokofiev; those pupils who play instruments might like to write their own music or learn a new piece to perform to the class and also talk about their instrument; perhaps make own musical instrument.
  • Sounds made by whales and dolphins/ animal communication.
  • Sounds made by nature e.g. weather/ extreme weather; volcanoes; oceans etc
  • Poetry
  • Hearing impaired or sound sensitivity.
  • Protecting our hearing- how ears function.
  • How animals use hearing to assist humans or for survival.

Enjoy! Your last set of homework was AMAZING!

Due date: Friday 14th December

Ms Wright 😊
